Latvians last to vote on EU membership

Latvians will on Saturday (20 September) become the last of the current wave of enlargement countries to vote on EU membership.

According to the latest opinion polls, 55.8 per cent of eligible voters are prepared to say "Yes" to membership, while 33.3% intend to say "No".

Over 80% of the 1.4 million electorate - the country has a total of 2.32 million inhabitants - are planning to participate in the referendum, revealed the same poll conducted by the centre LATVIJAS FAKTI.
