EU 'safe countries' asylum concepts being expanded to limit rights

Last week, the centre-right European People's Party (EPP) repeated its demands to clamp down on irregular migration, during their congress in Valencia.

"We must drastically decrease the number of irregular migrants arriving in our countries," Friedrich Merz, the CDU soon-to-be German chancellor, told the audience.
