Satisfied Europeans

The level of satisfaction among Europeans is surprisingly high, as 83 per cent are satisfied with their health, 77 per cent with life in general and 67 per cent declare themselves to be satisfied with their income, states the European Commission’s report on "The Social Situation in the European Union".
Clearly the main priority for Europeans is health, followed by income. Another important issue for Europeans is education, which has an impact on health and social participation. Over the last 30 years the level of education has risen significantly; 70 per cent of the 25-29 year olds now have a post-compulsory education.

The income differences within the European Union and between member states are still large. "80 per cent of Europeans agree that income differences are too high and that large differences in income are not good for society," according to the report.
